Welcome to Alfred Nobel's Karlskoga

Alfred Nobel was most probably smiling happily in the heavens when he heard the news that Karlskoga had been designated the Culture Municipality of the year 2009, because without Karlskoga the Nobel Prize would never have been in existence today.
Because Karlskoga's district court held that Nobel, when he died, resided at Björkborn Mansion, it meant that his last will and testament was approved and this in turn resulted in one of the world's most famous prizeslänk till annan webbplats.

Karlskoga is a centre for high-tech and culture. The award: Culture Municipality of the year 2009; is proof of the long-term efforts that have provided the people of Karlskoga with a vibrant cultural life with music, theatre, song and dance. In Karlskoga you are close to everything and everybody, in particular the countryside. Outdoor life with walks in the forest and fantastic bathing areas are just around the corner. From the centre of town, it's not more than five minutes walk to Lake Möckeln's child-friendly sandy beach.

The excellent communications also provide the possibilities to commute within the surrounding areas. In addition, the climate for the establishment of new companies in Karlskoga is exceptional. The excellent cooperation between the municipality and trade and industry sets a good example to many other communities.
